WATERSIDE CHOIR
Award-winning Waterside Choir is run and directed by Dave Cooke and Heather Simmons, with professional accompaniment by pianist Mike Kenton. Established in 2015, the choir's enthusiastic singers perform a wide repertoire of contemporary songs from Stevie Wonder and The Beatles hits to jazz classics, and original songs penned by Heather especially for them. They've performed live on BBC Radio 4's Sunday Worship programme as well as at venues and events across South East Essex.
As a community choir there are no auditions to join, but the quality is top notch as Grammy-nominated arranger Dave ensures every musical arrangement is a one-of-a-kind that stands out from the crowd. So much so, the choir has built up quite a reputation locally having won accolades at the Southend Music Festival and a hat trick at the Chelmsford Music Festival.
Waterside Choir is home to passionate singers, who want to learn and grow in doing what they love. Dave and Heather lead the way in expert tutelage in vocal technique throughout every rehearsal, striving for excellence while having a whole heap of fun along the way. In fact the laughs are never in short supply... very often at Dave's expense! If you're interested in becoming a soloist you'll find nothing but encouragement and support.
